Ford VCM3
The Ford VCM3 is Ford’s current-generation OEM Vehicle Communication Module designed to connect Ford diagnostic software with supported Ford and Lincoln vehicle electronic systems.
VCM3 is required for use with Ford IDS and is Ford’s recommended vehicle communication interface for FDRS and FJDS. When paired with the appropriate Ford diagnostic software and subscription, it provides dealership-level communication for diagnostics, service procedures, programmable parameters, module installation, and supported module reprogramming.
Compared with earlier Ford VCM hardware, the VCM3 adds support for J1708 and J1939 vehicle networks, expanding its capability for supported Ford medium-duty truck diagnostics. It is also designed to support newer CAN-FD networks and increased module-reprogramming speeds on applicable vehicles.
