GM MDI 2
The GM MDI 2 (Multiple Diagnostic Interface 2) is General Motors’ OEM vehicle communication interface for supported GM diagnostic, service, and module programming applications. It connects a compatible Techline computer to vehicle electronic control systems for diagnostics, data transfer, configuration, and supported ECU programming procedures.
MDI 2 is used with GM applications including GDS2, Tech2Win, Techline Connect, and Service Programming System workflows. When paired with the appropriate GM subscription and software, it provides dealership-level communication with supported Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Cadillac, and other GM vehicle platforms.
GM also supports MDI 2 for J1939 communication on selected Low Cab Forward medium-duty vehicles, extending the interface beyond traditional light-duty passenger vehicle applications.
